Halifax is located in some of the most
beautiful countryside in England. The Walking Group take advantage of this by
organising a selection of walks of varying distance throughout the year. Anyone
is welcome to come along so have a look on our What's On page to find a walk to
suit you.
During
2007 we enjoyed a variety of walks, all about 4 – 5 miles in length. The first
in April, from Slaithwaite, took us over the fells to Linthwaite and back along
the canal. In
May and June we visited the Dales. The first walk was a circuit at Bolton Abbey
with lovely views through the woods to the Strid returning by the river. Peter
and Christine Enright chose the other walk and it was a lovely circular route
from Grassington via Hebden to Linton where we enjoyed our pub lunch outside.
The amusing part of that walk was Peter lifting Pat over many stiles! There
was a walk in the Wakefield area in August and round Baitings Reservoir in
September. Our final walk was along the canal from Todmorden to Walsden,
culminating in a good meal back in Todmorden. Unfortunately
there will not be any church walks in 2008 as our leaders have other
commitments and Pat is unable to lead all the walks. Contact number: Parish
