| The Present Church |

Let me bring you forward to the prosperous times of the 1400s. Using a bequest by Vicar King, Thomas Wilkinson, his successor, rebuilt the church in the perpendicular style. At the back of the church, up the steps you will find yourself beneath the tower which took over 50 years to build and was completed in 1505. On the walls you will see many of the old pew labels dating from when each pew was the property of its occupier. High above your head is the ringing room and beyond that, the bells. Find out more about ringing and the bells on other pages. As you turn to go back down the steps, admire the view of the fine font cover with the nave behind it. The use of the York rose in its decoration suggests it was made before the reign of Henry VII.
