SATURDAY 14th November - FESTIVAL OF
REMEMBRANCE Elland Silver
Band is doing a concert called ‘An Evening of Remembrance’ in aid of the
British Legion Poppy Appeal. Tickets are available - £8.00 or £7.00 (OAP &
under 16s). The concert starts at 7.30
pm. SUNDAY 22ND NOVEMBER AT 11.00AM A CELEBRATION OF HALIFAX MINSTER There will be
a Eucharistic Service in church for everyone to attend at 11.00am on Sunday 22nd
November, when the Bishop of Wakefield and many guests will be here to celebrate
the change of name to Halifax Minster. There will be no 9.00am service on this day. Everyone is invited to attend this very special
service. SATURDAY 28TH November - CHRISTMAS FAYRE This event will
take place in church starting around 11.00am. There will be Father Christmas in
his grotto, stalls and light lunches. Further details will follow. CAN YOU HELP? We need cakes, bottles, gifts and anything else
appropriate to make this even successful. Anyone who has
cuddly toys suitable for a toy stall at the Christmas Fayre (similar to the
stall last year) please let Dorothy Muir have them as soon as
possible. SUNDAY 29th November - OVERGATE HOSPICE ‘LIGHT UP A There will be
a Service at 3.30pm on Sunday 29th November for people to light a
candle in memory of a loved one. SUNDAY 29th November - ADVENT SUNDAY We shall be
holding an Advent Carol Service at 6.30pm in church when darkness will be
banished by the approaching light of Christ. Every Thursday at 12.45pm - ORGAN RECITALSThe 2009 series of Organ Recitals take place every Thursday. They start at 12.45pm. Refreshments will be served from 12.25pm. Please see the leaflets at the back of church. MOTHERS UNION CHRISTMAS LUNCH This year we will
be having our Christmas Lunch at The Imperial Crown Hotel (at the bottom of
Horton Street) on Wednesday 9th
December at 12.30pm. The cost is £13.95 and a deposit is requested as soon
as possible – please give the money to Ann or Janet. CHANGE TO VESTRY HOUR From 1st
October 2009 Vestry Hour will take place on Thursdays in church starting at
6.30pm. TRAIDCRAFT & MOTHERS UNION STALLS There are MU cards
and Traidcraft cards on display and available for purchase at the back of
church. Catalogues are also available to order from. Orders for Traidcraft
Christmas cards and gifts should be sent to me via the post table by November
8th. I can do earlier orders if needed. MU orders should be sent to Margaret
Stears. There will be a Traidcraft Stall after the 10.30am service on October
18th when there will also be Advent Calendars (with Traidcraft chocolate) for
sale.
HEALING SERVICES These services will take place at 6.30 pm regularly throughout the year – often once a month. Please check the noticesheet for further information. Anyone is welcome to attend.
FAIRTRADE CAFÉ/STREET ANGELS An appeal is going out to all churches and voluntary organisations across the Town for more volunteers to help with the Fairtrade Café. The main need is for a volunteer cook. Please see the leaflets at the back of church or telephone Simon Endeacott 07825 795150.
FOOD
PARCELS We are very grateful to everyone who
brings some item to make up a food parcel. We are
also supporting the Food Drop-in Centre at the Ebenezer
Church. Please see the notice at the back of church for more details. SERVERS We are looking for more people to join the Serving Team. If you are interested or would like more information please speak with Sheila Stoppard or Joyce Galloway. WELCOMING IN CHURCH The welcome ministry in this church has always been excellent and a review has now taken place. The current team works hard to give extra time as well as doing their own time slots. We are in need of new volunteers who would be able to help to keep the building open. If you can offer some time please speak with Rachel, Hilary or Gillian. We will start Winter Opening Times from 26th October – 10.00am to 2.00pm seven days a week. A new rota has been arranged but there are gaps. We are in need of new volunteers who would be able to help to keep the building open. If you can offer some time please speak with The Curate. SEVEN DAY CANDLE – ETERNAL LIGHT We are looking for
people to sponsor this candle in the Holdsworth Chapel in memory of a loved one
at a price of £3 for one week. If you are interested in doing this please speak
